Fizzy Pop

Following my investigation into thermal and spring waters in Bath, Iceland and Cornwall, the opportunity to consider Mr Bowler’s collection at the Museum of Bath at Work was an exciting prospect. The ‘essence room’ and the four brewing vates inspired my work for this exhibition.
A strike to the outside of the tank revealed the beautiful reverb from inside the vessel and their intriguing accoustic capacity. A variety of sound were gathered (effervescence of home brewed ginger beer, Bath mineral water, gurgling of emptying vessels) and amalgamated with synthesised sounds. The result is an imagined soundscape relocated to resonate from the void of the distallation vats.
