Mantle
2014
The sculpture Mantle was made in response to the Gane Travel award to exploration of sites in Iceland. It displays partial reflections of the viewer, bending reality and creating illusions; allowing the viewer to become integral within the work yet the work remains in a state of flux. The inclusion of protruding neon coloured bands adds to the visual dynamic as the visual colours are references to Icelandic fugitive elements that change shape as the viewer walks past the sculpture.
Aluminium, neon bands, mirror finish mdf 280 x 70 cm.
